So Close But So Far
The Norton high golf team has a
roster of 12 kids varying from freshman to seniors. For the last two years the
team has finished with a losing recorded pushing them out of state sectionals.
In order to get to states you need to win at least 50% of your schedule. The
past two years we have finished 7 and 11 and 8 and 10. Both coming just short
of making it.
With just two more weeks in the
regular season the team is at 7 and 4. The team went on a 6 game winning streak
after losing the first match of the season. Making states this year is definitely
in the running, only needing to win two
more matches with 5 matches left in the season. If everyone keeps playing like
we all have been ,winning TVL’s is always an option. The top four lowest scoring averages go to
TVL’S and compete in an 18 hole match. With Cody Sweeny leading the scoring averages
then a close tie between the next three guys. The
next match the Norton Lancers have is Tuesday 10/7 against Medway at TPC
Boston. The prediction for this match is very close, when the Lancers played
Medway at their home course we lost by 19 strokes, Medway coming to TPC could
be a whole different score.
